Drilling Overview

Ariana Resources manages its drilling team under a division of its Turkish operating subsidiary Galata Madencilik. The team operates on projects held by the Company and on commercial diamond drilling contracts for other exploration companies.

To date drilling programmes have been undertaken on the Kiziltepe prospect, with plans to drill an additional 4,000-5,000m of further exploration or resource holes at the Sindirgi and Tavsan projects during 2010.

Drilling Contracts

Our drilling team combines an exploration pedigree with an internationally experienced drilling team to deliver projects in line with our customer's exploration objectives.

In consultation with our customers, our team is able to mitigate and minimise any technical difficulties that may arise from complex drilling programmes. The team provides a best of breed service delivering quality, efficiency and safety to all drilling programmes. The team has a strong focus on technical competency, geological understanding, and health and safety.

Due to the sensitive nature of many drilling programmes our drilling division operates separately to the Galata Madencilik exploration team. All contract drilling work is completed under strict confidentiality agreements.

Diamond Drill-Rig

The drilling team utilizes a Sandvik DE130 diamond drill-rig with an H-head rotation unit. The DE130 was selected for ease of use and for its simple hydraulic system which is easily maintained using stock spare parts. The DE130 also uses the light weight wire-line system which allows for deeper drilling capacity than the equivalent Q system.

The target performance for the drilling team is US$60 per meter with high core quality and recovery, using the WL 76 system. The team will also have capacity to drill WL56 exploratory holes. The technical specifications of this rig are provided in the table below:

Drill string diameterVertical Down
WL 103 (approx. HQ)400m
WL 76 (approx. NQ)600m
WL 56 (approx. BQ)900m
