While Ariana continues to progress its Red Rabbit project toward production, the team have been steadily building an extensive geoscientific database covering western Turkey. Despite the surge in interest in Turkish gold deposits over the last 10 years, Turkey still remains highly prospective with the potential for undiscovered multi-million ounce gold deposits. The majority of deposits in development today were discovered in the 1980s. Since then most exploration has focused around these deposits and in easily accessed areas.
The Ariana team are aware of the high exploration potential of western Turkey and as a result have developed a twofold exploration strategy with the following aims:
With our advanced exploration techniques the Company is in an unrivalled position to discover, acquire and develop new prospects in the region. Ariana is utilising their in-house database built from geochemical datasets (e.g. BLEG sampling), regional geological mapping, remote-sensing, hydrothermal alteration, structure, gravity and aeromagnetic data.
In Late 2011 Ariana Resources completed prospectivity mapping of Western Turkey. The work was carried out by a New Zealand based spatial modelling company, Kenex Ltd (Kenex). Kenex produced the prospectivity maps utilising statistical analyses of various geoscientific datasets. These analyses were designed to help constrain exploration into specific areas showing higher probabilities of gold mineralising systems. The exploration team is currently working through a list of targets discovered during a phased BLEG sampling programme which, coupled with the interrogation of the prospectivity maps, will result in possible new licence acquisitions.
